In the State of Louisiana, Court of Appeal, First Circuit, a case (No. 2023 CA 0611) was filed by plaintiffs William Duckworth and Donnie Kaglear against defendant Susan Curole. The judgment was rendered on April 19, 2024, following an appeal from the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge. The presiding judge was Honorable Trudy M. White.

The plaintiffs were represented by attorneys Cullen R. Clement and Joseph C. Possa while L. Richard Roy represented the defendant. On July 14, 2021, Duckworth and his dogs were attacked by a dog owned by Curole resulting in injuries to both him and his pets. The lawsuit was filed on March 31, 2022, seeking damages for the incident.

The trial court found Curole strictly liable for any damages caused by her dog during the incident and granted partial summary judgment to the plaintiffs. The court also granted plaintiffs' motion to deem responses admitted and denied defendant's motions to withdraw deemed responses admitted and continue.

The plaintiffs are seeking a judgment finding Ms. Curole solely and strictly liable for the damages sustained in connection with the July 14, 2021 dog attack.
