Darren Oubre sues United States for personal injuries caused by negligence

Darren Oubre has filed a lawsuit against the United States of America, specifically the Department of the Air Force, in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. The case, with ID 3:24-cv-00308-SDD-SDJ, was filed on April 16, 2024. The plaintiff alleges personal injuries caused by the negligence of an employee of the United States.

The incident in question occurred on September 19, 2022, when a vehicle operated by Christopher C. Brown, an employee of the Department of the Air Force, crashed into Oubre's vehicle on Interstate 10 westbound in West Baton Rouge Parish. The plaintiff asserts that Brown failed to maintain a safe distance and was negligent in his actions.

Oubre suffered several damages as a result of this accident including physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, physical impairment, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses both past and future, property damage, lost wages both past and future, disability both past and future and loss of future earning capacity.

The plaintiff is seeking judgment against the defendant for no less than $5,060,000. This includes $5 million as actual damages and $60 thousand for property damages along with compensation for lost wages in the past and future or loss of earning capacity; past, present and future disability; medical expenses; loss of enjoyment of life; general damages; physical pain and suffering.
