A former Loranger High School student says he was a victim of sexual abuse by a female teacher who allegedly gave birth to their child.

The unidentified plaintiff filed his complaint in federal court September 20 against the Tangipahoa Parish School System and Morgan Freche.

Freche resigned from her physical education teaching job last year. She was arrested and was charged with third-degree rape, oral sexual battery and four counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. She reportedly gave birth to a child that belonged to the plaintiff last summer.

According to the complaint, Freche was a teacher and administrator at Loranger Middle School and Loranger High School between 2020 and 2024 when she engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the plaintiff as well as engaged in inappropriate physical contact of a sexual nature, sent sexually explicit photographs – including photographs of herself – and sexually abused him.

The plaintiff says the Tangipahoa Parish school board as well as the assistant principal of Loranger High School were put on notice of the situation. He also says the school board failed to discipline Freche and allowed her to maintain her position as a teacher and administrator with “unfettered access to young male students at the school.”

“During plaintiff John Doe’s freshman year through junior year at Loranger High School (2020 through 2023), defendant Freche sexually harassed plaintiff John Doe culminating in sexual abuse and sexual batter which occurred during his sophomore and junior year,” the complaint states. “The sexually battery and sexual abuse occurred when plaintiff John Doe was a minor child.”

The plaintiff says he has suffered and will continue to suffer severe psychological and emotional injuries.

He accuses the defendants of sexual harassment and discrimination on the basis of gender in violation of Title IX, negligence and wanton and willful conduct. In addition, he also accuses Freche of battery.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, exemplary damages, court costs, interest, statutory and civil penalties, attorney fees and other relief.

According to media reports, a member of law enforcement who worked the case said the birth of the child and the nature of the relationship between the plaintiff and Freche allegedly were known by some members of the school faculty. The law enforcement official also said the boy’s mother learned about her son allegedly fathering a child with Freche when two faculty members congratulated her on becoming a grandmother while she attended a high school football game to watch the boy play.

The age of consent in Louisiana is 17.

Last October, Freche was released on a $155,000 bond and was required to wear an ankle monitor. No further update on her status is available.

The plaintiff is being represented by Stephen M. Smith of Stephen M. Smith & Associates in New Orleans, by Aaron Karger of the Law Office of Aaron A. Karger in North Miami Beach, Fla., and by Natalie Jackson and Precious Chavez of Ben Crump Law in Orland, Fla.
