Recovery is crucial for rebuilding lives, fostering resilience, and enabling individuals to achieve their full potential. Southern University Law Center is not only shaping future legal minds, but also creating a supportive community through the Southern University Pathways to Recovery Program (PRP).

This initiative is designed to support students who are in recovery or beginning their recovery journey, ensuring they have the resources and community support needed to thrive academically and personally.

“The Department of Academic Support Counseling and Bar Prep is honored to introduce Collegiate Recovery to our great campus, said Kimberly Decker, collegiate recovery coordinator. "Collegiate Recovery can provide a future where no student has to choose between pathways to recovery and their education.”

The PRP offers a range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of its students. It provides a safe space for students to connect, share experiences, and access vital resources.

The program offers recovery meetings that are held every Monday and Friday, offering a consistent and supportive environment for students to discuss their progress and challenges.

At the core of the PRP is the belief that recovery is a deeply personal journey, marked by growth, transformation, and the pursuit of one’s full potential. This program underscores the importance of hope, resilience, and community support in overcoming challenges and achieving long-term recovery.

PRP also emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to recovery, addressing four major dimensions: health, home, purpose, and community. This comprehensive support framework helps students not only manage their recovery but also engage meaningfully in their academic and social lives.

Through the Pathways to Recovery Program, Southern University Law Center demonstrates its commitment to student well-being, creating an environment where students can achieve their academic goals while receiving the support they need for their personal recovery.
