Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is on board with President Donald J. Trump’s immigration enforcement operations.

“I fully support President Donald Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan's efforts to remove dangerous illegal aliens out of Louisiana and ultimately out of our country,” Murrill said in a January 28 statement. “The Legislature banned parishes and municipalities from adopting ‘sanctuary policies’ last year.”

Murrill also said officials shouldn’t try to stand in the way of these efforts.

“I expect all law enforcement and local officials to not obstruct federal authorities from carrying out their duties, which is consistent with state and federal law,” Murrill said. “I will pursue all legal remedies against those who fail to uphold our laws and try to impede ICE agents.”

Over the weekend, the Trump administration began an immigration enforcement blitz nationwide. The effort included multiple federal agencies and resulted in the arrest of nearly 1,000 people, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE has reported more than 3,500 arrest in Trump’s first week back in office.

Homan said Sunday’s work was a “gamechanger.”

“President Trump has put all of government on this issue,” he told CNN. “We had all of government law enforcement today to focus on public safety and national security threats.”

Homan said Trump is going to secure the borders “as promised to the American people.”

“We’re going to enforce immigration law,” he told News Nation. “So that’s what we’re going to do, without apology. We’re on board, we’re going to go forward, you’re going to see it get a hell of a lot bigger in the near future.”
