With more than 20 years of experience as an educator and academic administrator, Leroy Turner joined the LSU Law staff as Director of Executive Operations and Strategic Initiatives at the beginning of the year.

Turner will work closely with LSU Law Dean Alena M. Allen, overseeing operational management and strategic planning at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center as well as coordinating activities between the Dean’s Office and internal and external parties. He is also responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing LSU Law’s accreditation matters under the dean’s direction.

“Leroy is a seasoned administrator with extensive experience collaborating effectively with varied constituencies. His strong leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to excellence will greatly benefit the Law Center,” Dean Allen said. “I look forward to working with him.”

Turner most recently served as an administrator at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge. He launched his career as an elementary school teacher and coach in Dallas in 2002, and taught science and social studies for the next 10 years, during which he was named Campus Teacher of the Year in 2006 and 2010. Between 2014 and 2022, Turner served in several middle school and high school campus leadership positions in the Dallas metropolitan area, before returning to Baton Rouge.

Turner earned his undergraduate degree from LSU in 2001 and his Master’s in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2006. He is a member of Omicron Beta Sigma, the Baton Rouge Graduate Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

“Horace Mann once said, ‘Education is the Great Equalizer…’ I am a testament to this, and I have dedicated my career to helping all students to reach their highest potential, regardless of the obstacles. In rigorous pursuit of this goal, I have often led the charge for improvement of educational outcomes and initiatives,” said Turner, who is filling the position vacated by Christina Hood when she retired at the end of 2024 after nearly 25 years at LSU Law. “I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new challenge at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center.”
