Kevin Dukes has filed a lawsuit against Georges Media, LLC, alleging defamation and invasion of privacy due to false and malicious publications that have severely damaged his reputation. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana on January 27, 2025, targeting Georges Media, LLC as the defendant.
According to the lawsuit, Kevin Dukes claims that Georges Media published defamatory statements accusing him of criminal activities despite his acquittal by a jury. On February 16, 2023, Georges Media released articles falsely implicating Dukes in the murder of Julius Thomas. These articles contained fabricated details about Dukes' alleged involvement in the crime. Despite being found not guilty on August 2, 2024, by a unanimous jury verdict, Georges Media continued to publish defamatory content without retracting or correcting their previous statements. Dukes submitted an affidavit on November 12, 2024, demanding a retraction and apology from Georges Media; however, they failed to respond within the legally required timeframe.
Dukes accuses Georges Media of multiple legal violations including defamation per se, false light invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. He argues that these actions have caused him public humiliation and significant emotional distress while damaging his personal and professional reputation. The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages exceeding $75,000 along with punitive damages to deter future reckless behavior by the defendant. Additionally, Dukes requests a permanent injunction requiring Georges Media to remove all defamatory content from their platforms and issue a public retraction and apology.
The case is being handled under Civil Action No. 3:25-cv-00082-SDD-EWD with Kevin Dukes represented by attorney Cortney Floyd. The case will be presided over by Judge Shelly D. Dick in the Middle District of Louisiana court.
