Aimed to bring together educators and business executives within the esports industry, Southern University Law Center’s Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming and Esports Institute will host its fourth annual Esport Summit on April 24- 25, 2025 at the Smith Brown-Memorial Union located at 500 Jesse Stone Ave, Baton Rouge. "Esports is more than just gaming; it is a thriving industry that blends technology, business, and education," said Christopher Turner, director of the Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming & Esports Institute. "Our goal with this summit is to provide a platform where industry leaders, educators, and students can come together to explore the endless opportunities within this space."
The summit is designed to bring together gaming enthusiasts, industry professionals, and students for two days of networking, learning, and competition.
Throughout the summit, participants will learn from some of the most innovative and progressive leaders within the esports industry. Featured speakers include Adrieanne Moliere, M.Ed., esports coordinator at University View Academy; Mykiah Bonhom, product specialist - Esports at Spectrum Industries; Wim Stocks, commercial & partnerships lead, Frequency Advisors/WP Labs; and Dr. Chris "Doc" Haskell, director and head coach, Esports Boise State.
The event will feature a series of keynote sessions and panel discussions covering topics such as IP Strategies for Gaming and Esports, Gaming and Esports in Higher Education, Esports Partnerships and Industry Insights, and Innovative Business Leadership in Gaming. In addition to thought-provoking panel discussions, attendees will have the chance to engage in interactive demonstrations of cutting-edge esports technology and solutions during CDW Esports Discovery Day.
To close out the summit, on Friday, April 25, the Institute will host a Crawfish Boil & Networking Event, providing attendees with a relaxed atmosphere to interact, connect, and discuss key takeaways from the summit. This annual summit continues to be a premier event for those passionate about the future of esports and its intersection with academia and business.
