A newly released documentary on the Lemon Howard case has given well earned recognition to the Southern University Law Center (SULC) and its former Civil Rights Litigation students, Cameron Pontiff and Hayden Carlos, led by SULC Professor Angela Ann-Allen Bell. The efforts and contributions of the student-led project are featured in this impactful documentary, which illuminates the relationship between poverty, incarceration, mental illness, and racism in Louisiana. The injustices surrounding the Lemon Howard case received fresh attention as the law students researched and produced a shocking revelation that eventually led to a major publication.  Since their names appear in the credits and their labor and photos are featured in the documentary, their devotion to justice has now been acknowledged.

This recognition underscores the impact that our law students can have in real-world cases, proving that research and advocacy can make a lasting difference. The documentary serves not only as a testament to their hard work but also as an educational tool that will continue to inform and inspire future legal minds.
