Trial involving falling elevator reset to July

The trial of a New Orleans woman injured by a falling elevator has been postponed due to an undisclosed medical emergency.

Donna Lascola's trial against Schindler Elevator Corp., Standard Parking Corp., Standard Parking Corporation IL, Hertz Texaco Center LLC, Hertz Texaco Manager Inc. and U.S. Security Associates Inc. is rescheduled to begin July 12 in the New Orleans federal court.

It had been set for the end of March.

Lascola was injured following an elevator malfunction in one of Texaco's parking garage. She claims that during the elevator's descent it made a sudden loud nose, jolted, then came to an abrupt stop. The elevator continued to malfunction until it finally made it to the ground floor. Lascola said that the jolting and sudden drops caused her to injure her shoulder and neck.

Lascola is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain, suffering and lost wages.

She is represented by Covington attorneys S.C. Garcia III and Christine I. MacKinnon of Garcia and Bishop.

U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle is assigned to the litigation.
