Zurich Insurance sued by property owner over unpaid wind damage claims

In two separate petitions filed in Orleans Parish District Court, Ted S. Davis is suing his insurer for failing to fully supply coverage for wind damaged property he owns at 2414 St. Roch Ave. and 2228 Lizardi St. in New Orleans.

Davis claims his policy with Zurich American Insurance Co. was in full force and effect when Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav struck in 2005, and provided for wind-storm damage, according to his suit filed April 19.

The petitions claim that Zurich has failed to provide coverage listed in Davis's policy.

According to Davis, the value of the Roch Ave. claim does not exceed $75,000, including the interest and costs. The value submitted for the Lizardi St. property also is listed as $75,000.

Attorney David W. Bernberg will be representing Davis.
