Injuries claimed in rear-end accident

Susanne Baber filed a lawsuit against Tara Gibbs Riley, Khanh Nguyen, Allstate Insurance and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance on April 20 in Orleans Parish District Court, claiming head and neck injuries from a rear-end accident.

Riding in the passenger seat of her father's vehicle, Baber claims she was first struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Riley, followed by a second impact from another vehicle driven by Nguyen. The force caused the Baber vehicle to propel forward and hit a vehicle directly in front of them.

Baber claims the defendants failed to see what they should have seen, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to maintain proper control of their vehicles, traveled at an excessive rate of speed, operated their vehicles in a reckless and careless manner and followed too closely.

She is asking the court to award damages for permanent and disabling injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering, disability, mental and emotional suffering, diminution of earnings and earning capacity and loss of life's enjoyment.

New Orleans attorney Stephen P. Bruno of Bruno & Bruno is representing the plaintiff.

Judge Lloyd J. Medley is assigned to the case.
