Fransen & Hardin at 814 Howard Ave. in New Orleans.
A lawfirm's lawsuit against a roofing contractor alleges shoddy workmanship cost it more than $40,000 in damages.
The suit, filed May 4 in Orleans Parish District Court, alleges that CMR Construction & Roofing Co. was hired to perform roofing work at the offices of Fransen & Hardin A.P.L.C. on Oct. 29, 2005, and that "the contract required defendant to put a new roof on the building at 814 Howard Avenue."
However, since the time the work was completed, "there has been trouble and difficulty with leaks of rain water into the building," the suit claims.
In April and May 2008, Fransen and Hardin hired another roofer to replace the building's air conditioner and "it was determined that the work performed by CMR Construction & Roofing LLC was not up to standard," the suit claims.
The plaintiff also alleges that "CMR workers who were required to flash heat the seams of the rolls, failed to property do so and the seams came apart resulting in leakage into the building."
According to the suit, the "shoddy workmanship" has resulted in the need for "a complete roof replacement likely costing in excess" of $40,000.
The plaintiffs are represented by New Orleans attorneys Remy Fransen Jr. and Allain Hardin.
