Judges closing offices early due to Saints season opener

Many Judges in Orleans Parish Civil District court will be closing their divisions early on account of the New Orleans Saints season opener Thursday.

Court Public Information Officer Walt Pierce confirmed that many judges will be closing their chambers at noon, but stressed that anyone with business with a judge at Orleans Parish should call the division in advance to know the hours.

The clerk's office will retain a full day, closing at its regular time of 5 p.m.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Saints will play the Minnesota Vikings Thursday night at the Louisiana Superdome, just a half block away from the courthouse. The NFL has scheduled a pre-kickoff parade and concert that will run through the French Quarter and downtown areas. Pre-game festivities are also scheduled to start at 3 p.m. outside the Superdome.

The New Orleans Police Department and local news outlets have warned residents of an excess of traffic in the downtown area.
