Oil spill workers sue after being injured while attempt to cross a boom

Bruno

Two oil spill workers have filed a lawsuit after they sustained injuries while attempting to navigate across a boom.

Calvin Crump and Fred Brown filed suit against Buras Oilfield Services on Oct. 14 in federal court in New Orleans.

The men claim the incident occurred Sept. 7.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to provide competent supervision, failing to instruction and train plaintiffs in the safe operation of a vessel, failing to provide a vessel that had an operating kill switch for the motor and ordering the plaintiffs to perform an unsafe act by attempting to cross on a boom.

Crump and Brown argue the vessel was unseaworthy due to having incompetent supervision and for not having a working kill switch.

They are seeking damages for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, medical expenses, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent disability, maintenance and cure, interest and court costs.

Crump and Brown are represented by New Orleans attorney Stephen P. Bruno.

U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon is assigned to the case.
