Three weeks after a trip and fall accident, a Louisiana resident has filed a lawsuit against his employer for not furnishing a safe place to work.
Shain Lovette filed suit against Danco Operations and Bailey Janice on Oct. 26 in federal court in New Orleans.
The incident occurred on Oct. 7, 2010 as Lovette was working as a seaman aboard the supply vessel, M/V Bailey Janice. Lovette states he injured his spine and mind when he fell because of the frame of an engine room deck plate was twisted.
The defendants are accused of negligence for failing to furnish Lovette a safe place to work.
Lovette is seeking more than $2 million in damages for mental and physical pain and suffering, past and future loss of wages, medical expenses, found, maintenance and cure, attorney fees, interest, punitive damages and court costs.
He is represented by Thomas M. Discon of Discon Law Firm in Mandeville.
U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman is assigned to the case.
