A motorcyclist who was injured while participating in a caravan to bring publicity to prisoners of war and service persons missing in action has filed a lawsuit against the group in an attempt to recover medical expenses.
William G. Rome and Susan Rome filed suit against Ray Huston, Run for the Wall, Inc., American Motorcycle Association Inc. d/b/a American Motorcyclist Association, GEICO Indemnity Insurance Co. and Ace American Insurance Co. on Oct. 19 in federal court in New Orleans.
The accident occurred on May 24 as William Rome was participating as a guard riding in a cross country motorcycle caravan.
Defendant Ray Huston's motorcycle allegedly clipped the back rear of Rome's motorcycle near Meridian, Miss., causing Rome to lose control, the suit claims. The American Motorcyclist Association is accused of negligent training of defendant Ray Huston.
William Rome is asking for approximately $1.3 million in damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, disability, lost enjoyment of life, lost earning capacity and medical expenses. Susan Rome is asking for approximately $150,000 in damages for loss of consortium.
The plaintiffs are represented by David A. Hilleren of Hilleren & Hilleren in Evergreen.
U.S. District Judge A. J. McNamara is assigned to the case.
