Offshore worker sues after crane slams into platform

An offshore worker has filed a lawsuit against the operators of a crane after he was slammed into an offshore platform.

Gilbert Williams filed suit against Seatrax of Louisiana Inc. on Feb. 2 in federal court in New Orleans.

According to the complaint, Williams was employed by Ocean Chef as a catering hand working on an offshore platform when the accident occurred on Aug. 29, 2010. Williams states he was injured when he was being transported in a crane and the crane slammed into the platform.

Williams is seeking damages for physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering, loss of wages, fringe benefits and wage earning capacity, physical disability, medical expenses, punitive damages, interest and court costs.

Williams is represented by Timothy J. Young and Jason C. MacFetters of The Young Firm in New Orleans. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey is assigned to the case.
