Man seeks damages over faulty work on Tulane pool

Landrieu

A New Orleans man is suing a pool maintenance company after repair work to Tulane University's Reily Center's salt-water pool resulted in rusted parts, according to a lawsuit filed in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Timothy Reily is suing Janted Inc., J's Pool Maintenance, John Tedesco and an unnamed insurance company after J's completed pool maintenance and parts installation in May 2010.

New Orleans attorney Bobbie Smith filed the petition for damages Feb. 18.

The suit claims J's was hired to "install new rails, remove existing rails and install anoid [sic] inline with salt system in the pool."

Within days, the lawsuit states, "the railings and the screws began to rust rendering the pool unusable."

The plaintiff claims that the defendants have refused contact after initially replacing the railings and screws and completing an acid wash of the pool.

The defendants are liable for negligence, using defective workmanship and materials, unjust enrichment and other charges, the lawsuit says.

Orleans Parish Judge Madeleine Landrieu has been assigned this case.
