Target sued for failing to post warnings of slippery floor

A Jefferson Parish resident is suing Target Corp. after she slipped in water and fell.

Claiming the store failed to post warnings, Stephanie Osorio filed suit against Target and Ace American Insurance Co. on June 8 in Jefferson Parish District Court. The defendants removed the case to federal court in New Orleans on July 20.

Osorio states she was injured while shopping at Target in Harvey on Oct. 11, 2010.

She accuses the store of failing to post warnings of substance on the ground or maintain the area in a safe and secure manner.

Osorio is seeking damages for mental pain and anguish, physical pain and suffering, loss of life's enjoyment, medical expenses, loss of earnings, court costs, attorney's fees and interest.

She is represented by James E. Shields Sr. of Sheilds & Shields in Gretna.
