Metairie restaurant sued for $300,000 after woman slips and breaks her arm

A Metairie restaurant is being sued for $300,000 after a woman slipped in rainwater and broke her arm.

Amy S. Rigamer filed suit against OSI Restaurant Partners d/b/a Outback Steakhouse and Outback Steakhouse of Florida on Aug. 5 in federal court in New Orleans.

The incident occurred on Dec. 31, 2010 as Rigamer was entering the Outback Steakhouse in Metairie to get a gift card. She states she walked into the entrance of the restaurant, slipped and fell in rainwater that was on the floor.

The restaurant is accused of negligence for failing to clean up rainwater being tracked into the restaurant, failing to post wet floor signs and failing to lay mats at the entrance.

The plaintiff is asking for more than $300,000 in general damages, medical expenses, lost wages, interest and court costs.

Rigamer is represented by New Orleans attorney Kevin Schoenberger. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan is assigned to the case.
