NEW ORLEANS - A St. Louis woman is challenging the New Orleans Public Works Department for fines assessed to her via photo-enforcement.
Theresa G. Hammitt filed suit against the City of New Orleans on Jan. 3 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Hammitt is claiming she should have not been determined guilty in a hearing on Nov. 29, 2011 that accused her of violations caught on camera on June 6, 2011.
The plaintiff alleges that the fines were assessed without the establishment of facts supporting them. Hammitt claims she was not in New Orleans on the date the alleged incident occurred and that she can verify through work records that she was at her job in St. Louis.
Hammitt is representing herself in the case.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Kern A. Michael G. Bagneris.
