Woman suing United Health Care provider for denial of charges

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish woman is suing her health insurance provider for not covering some of her treatment costs.

Katrina Waldrop filed suit in the 23rd Judicial District against United Health Care Services on Jan. 11.

Waldrop alleges the insurance provider should have covered the cost of treatments she received from Baton Rouge-based pain clinic. The plaintiff claims the insurance company refused to pay for and authorize her treatment. Waldrop claims she has been in extreme pain and in need of specialized treatment for a back condition. The filing states United arbitrarily declined to reimburse her treatment and thus violated their provider contract.

An unspecified amount is being sought for damages, penalties, interest, attorney's fees and reimbursement and payment of all outstanding medical bills.

Waldrop is being represented by Gonzales-based attorney Eddie J. Lambert.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge John L. Peytavin.
