Man sued for unlicensed construction in French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans company is suing its French Quarter neighbor for unlicensed repairs.

Taylor Industries filed suit on Jan. 30 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against James Cahn and Cahn Enterprises.

Taylor claims the defendants participated in unlicensed construction work on a neighboring property at 1309 Dapuhine Street and on the alleyway between the two properties. The plaintiff alleges the defendants were cited twice by the Vieux Carre Commission for the unlicensed work, but failed to stop the construction. Taylor claims the alleged violations have resulted in physical property damage and loss of enjoyment of property.

Damages sought include removal of the defendant's work and restoration of the property to its original condition.

The plaintiff is being represented by attorney John D. Sileo of New Orleans.

Case number 2012-00905 has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
