NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a contractor he claims damaged his home while in the process of installing insulation.
Manny Vega filed suit on Jan. 30 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Noah's Restoration.
Vega claims he contracted Noah's to pump foam insulation into his home's walls and the work resulted in damages throughout his home's interior and exterior.
The plaintiff alleges the work resulted in bulging and cracking of the interior walls, foam coming out of electrical outlets, foam spilling onto the floor and others surfaces and foam bulging out weather boards on the outside of the home and spilling onto the exterior walls.
Vega asserts the foam also damaged the home's electrical system and required repairs to junction boxes that were arcing and sparking.
The plaintiff claims the defendants were negligent by misrepresenting their level of expertise with foam insulation injection, for not using due caution, using too much pressure in the pumping operation and failure to cease pumping before damage occurred.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for the plaintiff having to temporarily seek another residence, requiring storage of household items, replacement of all interior walls, the removal and restoration of all exterior walls, the replacement of all electrical junction boxes, testing of wiring and plumbing and mental anguish.
Vega is being represented by attorney Gregory J. McDonald of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
