NEW ORLEANS – A statewide workers' compensation fund has requested the local sheriff to garnish the funds and seize property of a local company to satisfy a judgment.
Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation filed suit on Jan. 30 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against KMJ Services, Inc. The plaintiff claims KMJ Services owes past due funds from a previous judgment. The plaintiff is seeking to garnish the account held by the defendant at a local bank.
Damages sought include $18,562.25 for the past judgment plus fees associated with legal costs, attorney's fees, interest and the Sheriff's commission.
Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation is being represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney Chad S. Berry.
The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
