Marrero McDonald's named in slip and fall case

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a Marerro McDonald's for injuries she claims happened in a accident on the restaurant's premises.

Earlette Lucas filed suit on Marsh 12 in 24th Judicial District Court against McDonald's Corporation. Lucas claims she was a patron at the McDonald's located in the Wal-Mart on LaPalco Boulevard in Kenner when she slipped and fell in a puddle of water when exiting the establishment.

The plaintiff asserts she noticed an employee mopping near the spot where she fell, but that there was no caution sign in place. Lehman claims she suffered injuries to her left hip and lower back and received a diagnosis of bursitis in addition to a hip contusion and an aggravation of a preexisting back condition.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the premises free of hazards, failing to post signs about the wet floor and failing to properly mop the hazardous area.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and permanent disability.

Earlette Lucas is being represented by New Orleans-based attorney Harry E. Forst.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.
