GRETNA -- A Jefferson Parish woman is suing her former landlord for injuries she claims occurred at her former apartment building.
Nena Thames Bubrig and and husband Dean Bubrig filed suit on March 22 against Carlyle Apartment Complex and its business partners.
Bubrig claims she was a resident of Carlyle apartments at 500 Wall Boulevard in Gretna when she was walking on a raised walkway and suddenly fell and landed on the ground and other objects in the area. The plaintiff alleges she received serious prolonged injuries due to the fall.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide handrails on walkways, not providing a safe living environment, not keeping walkways and common areas in safe condition, placing structures in common areas that would make injuries from falls worse, not warning of uneven surfaces, failing to have walkways that conform to building code standards, failing to repair defects and failing to properly accommodate lessees.
An unspecified amount in damages are sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, prescription medications, disability, loss of income, loss of job opportunity, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life, inconvenience, enhanced physical injury, loss of personal mobility and freedom and neurosis.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner.
