GRETNA -- A Jefferson Parish couple is suing a number of companies they claim are at fault for damages their home incurred.
Lisa D. and Mark E. Williams filed suit on March 16 in the 24th Judicial District against Personal Touch Services, Professional Unified House Lifting, Inc., Davie Shoring, Inc., Advanced Foundation Repair, Inc and their insurers.
The Williamses claim they hired Personal Touch Services to elevate their home under the Road Home Post-Katrina hazard mitigation process.
Personal Touch Services is alleged to have subcontracted work to the other defendants without the knowledge of the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs claim their home was damaged when temporary supports failed and the house crashed to the ground. The defendants are accused of failing to have adequate equipment in place during the lifting, failing to properly monitor the lifting, failing to provide failsafe supports, inadequate training and supervision of work crew and inadequate monitoring during the jacking process.
The plaintiffs assert though they received an insurance claim of $48,580.63 it was far lower than than a bid $99,829.45, which was the lowest of three solicited from contractors.
Over $100,000 in damages is sought by the plaintiffs to repair the home completely.
The Williamses are being represented by Lloyd N. Frischhertz of New Orleans-based Frischhertz, Poulliard, Frischhertz and Impasato, LLC.
