GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing her dentist for injuries she claims to have received during oral surgery.
Lolita Kinney Taylor filed suit on March 23 against Dr. Precious McGregor-Wiltz in the 24th Judicial District Court.
Taylor claims she visited Dr. McGregor-Wiltz for the extraction of two teeth and that during the procedure the defendant accidentally drilled into the wrong bone causing injuries. The plaintiff alleges the defendant drilled into her nasal septum bone, which resulted in a hole from her mouth to her nasal cavity.
The plaintiff asserts the incident has resulted in severe headaches and emotional distress.
The defendant is accused of negligence in using a surgery tool, drilling into the patient's nasal septum bone, breaching the standard of care, exposing the patient to unexpected complications and failing to warn of possibility of complications.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medicine expenses, hospitalization, medical care, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, residual disabilities, mental anguish, emotional upset, loss of enjoyment of life, rehabilitation and support care.
Taylor is being represented by Brian G. Birdsall of New Orleans-based the Birdsall Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
