Truck driver sues security firm claiming employee directed him to run into concrete barrier

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish man is suing a security service and an unidentified employee for injuries he alleges he received due to their negligence.

Dontea Kent filed suit on March 28 against Securitas Security Services in the 23rd Judicial District Court.

Kent claims he was working for Sorrento Lumber Company and was operating a cement truck on the premises of PCS Nitrogen in Geismar when he was injured. The plaintiff alleges an unknown employee of the defendant was guiding him through the exit gate when he turned into a concrete barrier allegedly based on directions given by the employee. Kent claims he was seriously injured in the collision in which his hand was broken.

The defendants are accused of failing to guide the vehicle in a reasonable manner, failing to warn plaintiff he was in danger of collision, failing to keep the premises free of hazardous conditions, failing to premises in safe condition, failing to take precautions to avoid accident, failing to follow proper guidelines, failing to pay attention, failing to properly to provide proper employee supervision, failing to properly train employee and breach of legally imposed duties of reasonable care owed to plaintiff.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for lost wages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

Kent is being represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney Ted Williams.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Thomas Kliebert, Jr.
