NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a number of defendants for injuries she received when she fell in hole allegedly opened during construction.
Lois Minor filed suit on April 5 against Bynum Plumbing Corporation, M&M Tunnelers & Plumbers, Bianka and Mel Mitchell and their insurers in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Minor claims she was visiting family at the home of the Mitchells when she was injured after she stepped into an open hole that was left by one of the other defendants who were involved in ongoing construction on the property. The defendants are accused of allowing dangerous defects on the property, failing to correct the defect, failing to keep the premises in a safe condition, failing to inspect the premises and failing to warn of the dangerous condition.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wage earning capacity and medical expenses.
Minor is being represented by David E. Kavanagh of New Orleans-based Kavanagh & Rendeiro.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
