Woman sues gas station after breaking leg in fall on premises

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a local gas station for injuries she claims occurred on its premises.

Royanne Davis filed suit on April 5 against Cheema, Inc. and its insurer in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Davis claims she was getting gas at the Belle Chasse Spur and Deli when she slipped on a foreign substance and fell to the concrete. In addition to a broken fibula, broken tibia and broken ankle the plaintiff claims to have received severe injuries to her bones, muscles, joints, organs, tissues, head, back, ribs, legs, feet and hands.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises, failing to discover the dangerous condition, failing to warn of the hazard, strict liability and breaching legally imposed duties of care.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical care and medicines.

Davis is being represented by David C. Whitmore of New Orleans-based Scheurman & Jones.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
