Gretna U-Haul sued by woman who allegedly tripped over wire

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a moving truck renter for injuries she claims she received on their property.

Jessie Boyd filed suit on April 9 against U-Haul Co. of Louisiana and its insurer in the 23rd Judicial District Court. Boyd claims she visited the U-Haul store in Gretna to rent a truck and that when a store associate was leading her out to the parking lot she tripped over a wire and fell face first to the concrete. The plaintiff alleges she injured her back, arm, wrist, hands, shoulder, knees and received bruises and abrasion to her face and body.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to warn the plaintiff of the hazard and failing to maintain its premises free of hazard.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental and physical pain and suffering and medical costs.

Boyd is being represented by New Orleans-based attorney Gayle Reynolds.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan.
