Metairie Walgreens sued by woman in slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local pharmacy for injuries she claims occurred on its premises.

Lidia Machado filed suit on May 29 in the 24th Judicial Civil District Court against Walgreen Louisiana Co. Inc. and its insurer. Machado claims she was walking in front of the store when she suddenly and unexpectedly slipped and fell in a puddle of water. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to her nose, mouth, jaw, head, neck, shoulders, right knee, ribs and a cervical herniation.

The defendant is accused of creating the hazard, failing to maintain a safe environment, allowing a dangerous condition o exist, failing to use reasonable care, failing to properly insect pathways and failing to adequately inspect premises.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses and pain and suffering.

Machado is represented by Metairie-based attorney Christopher R. Schwartz.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib, Jr.

Case number 715300.
