Shoring company sued over allegedly faulting home raising

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a contractor who allegedly damaged her home while lifting it.

Brenda Truitt filed suit against Campanella Kent, Sr., Kent Custom Elevations, LLC, Gemini Insurance Company, C. Kent and Associates Inc., Kent Custom Homes and Louisiana Home Builders Association General Liability Trust in the 23rd Judicial District Court.

Truitt claims she contracted Kent to lift her home. The plaintiff alleges that Kent did not stabilize the slab during the lift, which resulted in severe and extensive damage to her home including shifting and cracking.

The defendant is accused of failing to meet the specification necessary to complete the task

An award in excess of $50,000 is sought by the plaintiff for the damages in addition to a refund of $78,000 paid to Kent for the job as well legal costs and attorney's fees.

Truitt is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Jack H. Tobias of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge J. Molaison.
