Super Dollar Store sued by woman in trip and fall

GRETNA –A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a national supermarket chain for injuries she claims occurred on the premises on one of its stores.

Marcia Crout filed suit on June 12 against Variety Wholesalers, Inc. and the Super Dollar Store in the 24th Judicial District Court.

Crout claims she was shopping at the Super Dollar Store located at 6594 Westbank Expressway in Marrero when she stepped on a clear sticky substance and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges the fall resulted in painful and serious injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly inspect the floor, failing to inspect the floor after notice, failing to warn customers of the hazard, failing to maintain the sales floor, creating or maintaining a dangerous or defective condition and allowing a dangerous condition after proper notice.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent damage, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

Crout is represented by Gretna-based attorney Pierre F. Gaudin.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
