NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a local retailer for injuries she claims occurred on its premises.
Dianne Ramsey filed suit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana, LLC in the New Orleans Civil District Court on June 7.
Ramsey claims she was shopping at the Family Dollar located at 3612 S. Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans when she slipped and fell in a puddle of clear looking liquid thought to be laundry detergent. The plaintiff alleges she received serious personal injuries to her bones, muscles, organs and tissues in the fall.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain safe premises for business invitees, failing to properly maintain its store aisles, failing to properly inspect the aisle in which the plaintiff fell and failing to warn of the hazard.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medicines, medical expenses, permanent disability, permanent bodily injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish and lost wages.
Ramsey is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Thomas L. Smith.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
Case number 2012-05625.
