Dollar General sued in slip and fall

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension parish woman is suing a national discount retailer for injuries she claims occurred on their premises.

Arlette Bridges filed suit in the 23rd Judicial District Court against Dolgencorp LLC, Dollar General Corp. and their insurers on July 2. Bridges claims she was shopping at the Gonzales Dollar General when she unexpectedly slipped and fell on an unknown substance. The plaintiff alleges she received severe personal injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to monitor the building and its interior premises, failing to properly inspect the building and its premises, failing to train personnel, failing to take action to place a warning sign, failing to monitor the floors and generally failing to exercise due care.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and psychiatric and psychological damage.

Bridges is represented by LaPlace-based attorney Fred R. DeFrancesh.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Guy Holdridge.
