Rooms To Go sued for injuries allegedly received in bed collapse

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish couple is suing a local furniture retailer claiming they were injured in a bed purchased from the store.

Anna and Luis Zinga filed suit in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 25 against Rooms To Go Louisiana Corp.

The Zingas claim they picked out and purchased a bed at a local Rooms To Go store. The plaintiffs claim they received a "high profile" bed rather than the "low profile" bed they had thought would be delivered.

The couple asserts that they requested an exchange and were told to use the bed until the correct bed arrived. The plaintiffs claim they laid down to take a nap on the bed and it collapsed causing them serious and permanent physical injuries.

The defendants are accused of negligence and providing a defective bed.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental and physical pain and suffering, disability, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.

The Zingas are represented by Lionel H. Sutton of the Law Office of L.H. Sutton, III.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

Case no. 716-361.
