DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish man has filed suit against the City of Gonzales for allegedly stepping in a hole in the road.
Zenobia Batiste filed suit against the City of Gonzales in the 23rd Judicial District on July 17. Batiste claims in January 2011 he was visiting family living at 203 Roscoe Street in Gonzales when he exited his car and when walking around the rear of the vehicle stepped in a hole in the road. The plaintiff alleges he was injured in the incident.
The defendant is accused of having knowledge of the defect and failing to exercise reasonable care by failing to warn about and correct the hazardous condition.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, distress, loss of social functions and medical expenses.
Batiste is representing himself.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Thomas Kliebert, Jr.
