GRETNA – A nursing home is being sued for the alleged wrongful death of one of its residents.
The estate of Myrtle Boihem and Jean B. Dodge filed suit against Waldon Operations and Waldon Health Care Center in the 24th Judicial District on July 3.
The estate claims Boihem suffered numerous injuries as a resident of the nursing facility, including breaking her leg after being dropped in the shower by an aide. The suit also claims she fell out of her wheelchair as a result of not being properly strapped in and cut her head for which she received several stitches. Boihem's estate also asserts Boihem also suffered four other falls.
The defendant is accused of failing to satisfy the standard of care for the geriatric patient, failing to use reasonable and prudent care, failing to properly train employees, failing to properly assess patient for falls and failing to take appropriate measures to make falls cease.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, medical expenses, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, diminished chance of survivaland premature and unnecessary death.
