NEW ORLEANS - A New Orleans hotel guest has filed a personal injury lawsuit that claims she slipped in the shower due to a lack of non-skid mat or non-skid surface.
Seeking in excess of $75,000 in damages, Deborah L. Teasley filed suit against Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and ABC Insurance Co. on July 17 in federal court in New Orleans.
The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 1, 2011 while Teasley was staying at The Wyndham Riverfront New Orleans. Teasley states that when she attempted to step into the bathtub to take a shower, she slipped and fell. She sustained an ankle fracture and allegedly has made a poor medical recovery.
The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to provide Teasley with a shower area equipped with a non-skid surface or traction mat and for failing to warn Teasley of the unsafe condition of her guest room's shower area.
The plaintiff is asking for an award of damages for lost income, diminished ability to earn a living, physical pain and suffering, physical disability, loss of bodily function, medical expenses, interest, and court costs.
Teasley is represented by New Orleans attorney Richard M. Martin Jr. A jury trial is requested.
U.S. District Judge Lance M. Africk is assigned to the case.
