Convenience store owner sued for alleged non-payment of electric repair services

Ernest A. Burguieres

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish-based commercial property owner is being sued by a New Orleans-based electrical company.

C.J.'s Electric, LLC filed suit against Mohammad Cheema and Cheema Properties, LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 31. C.J.'s Electric claims it did work on a property owned by Cheema at 2800 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna for which it has not received payment.

The plaintiff alleges it completed electrical work on the building including repairs, renovations, wiring and lighting services for a total of $4,150. C.J.'s Electric asserts it sent a letter of amicable demand stating it would be seeking to place a lien on the property in question and did not receive a reply from the defendant.

The defendant is accused of breaching the work contract by not paying for services completed by the plaintiff.

Damages in the amount of $4,150 are sought in addition to attorney's fees.

C.J.'s Electric is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ernest A. Burguieres.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.

Case no. 717-625.
