NEW ORLEANS – A Hawaiian woman is suing a New Orleans bed and breakfast for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.
Mary Ivison filed suit against 1896 O'Malley House, LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on July 24. Ivison claims she was staying at the 1896 O'Malley House bed and breakfast located at 120 S. Pierce St. in New Orleans when she fell on concrete steps in front of the building. The plaintiff alleges she received serious injuries in the fall.
The defendant is accused of failing to have steps with standard height risers, failing to have adequate lighting, failing to ensure the area was safe for inhabitants and failing to perform inspections on the premises.
Damages exceeding $50,000 are being sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, medical expenses and permanent injury.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
