NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman has sued a company she claims is responsible for the upkeep of the premises where she allegedly slipped and fell.
Charlene Mason filed a lawsuit against Pride Industries in the Orleans Parish Central District court on Aug. 2. Mason claims she slipped and fell coming down the stairs of the City of New Orleans Municipal Court building due to a slippery substance on stairs. As a result of the fall Mason alleges she suffered a broken or fractured left ankle and foot.
The defendant is accused of failure to warn the petitioner of the hazardous conditions, failure to maintain a trafficked area such as the stairs, and disregard of patron safety.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for all damages found reasonable in the context of this case.
Mason is represented by Stephen M. Smith of New Orleans of the Louisiana-based law firm The Law Offices of Stephen M. Smith.
The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
Case no. 2012-07582.
