BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge woman is suing a Baton Rouge hospital after one of its employees allegedly ran over her foot with a wheelchair.
Margie Campbell filed suit against Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, its insurance company and an employee of Our Lady of the Lake in the 19th Judicial Court on Aug. 23.
On Jan. 5, 2012, Campbell claims an unnamed employee of OLOL was recklessly steering a morbidly obese man in a wheelchair, when he rolled over her left foot and crushed it.
The defendant is accused of creating an unreasonable risk of harm to visitors and patients, failing to do what should have been done to avoid incidents and injuries, failing to warn of an unreasonably dangerous environment, having actual or constructive notice of an unreasonably dangerous environment, failing to be cautious and alert and protect patients and visitors from harm and failing to use due care wile transporting patients.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, disability, loss of wages and medical expenses.
The plaintiff is represented by Afi C. Patterson of Patterson Glover.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Todd Hernandez.
