NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a local store for alleged breach of contract and negligence.
Toni Z. Brown filed a lawsuit against Heirloom Furnishings, LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 9. Brown claims the defendants breached their contract with her in allowing the 18 karat gold Rolex Day watch they had agreed would be sold for at least $12,000 to be stolen while in the store's possession and control. The plaintiff claims that the defendant's negligence caused her to lose the value of the watch, which was worth at least $12,000, the suit claims.
The defendant is accused of not having proper security devices on site, leaving the watch in an unsecured top counter display case and not having qualified personnel onsite to make sure theft would not take place.
An unspecified amount is sought for all damages found reasonable in the premises.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
