Lusher Charter School
NEW ORLEANS – The mother of a Lusher Charter High School student is suing the high school and the parish school board over her daughter's attendance.
Cameron Eaton, on behalf of her minor daughter, filed a lawsuit against Lusher Charter School and the Orleans Parish School Board in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 13. Eaton is requesting just cause for why her daughter should not be able to remain at Lusher for her senior year.
Following a move to Jefferson Parish, with official approval from Lusher assuring that Chloe could still attend school in Orleans Parish, the defendants, at the last minute, revealed that they misinterpreted school board policy that would have allowed the plaintiff to remain at Lusher for her senior year,, the suit says.
This alleged negligence has Chloe's attendance in the certificate of artistry program in dance, access to specific courses assisting with her college choice and the opportunity to participate in a special program allowing her to take classes at Tulane University during her high school career hanging in the balance.
The defendant is accused of causing undue hardship to plaintiff's family and causing irrefutable harm to Chloe Blair.
An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including, but not exclusively, costs of multiple relocations, loss of educational opportunities, reimbursement for fees associated with certain academic and art programs that were previously invested, attorney fees, court cost and mental health fees.
The plaintiff is representing herself.
This case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
Case no. 2012 07935.
