Hampton Inn sued by patron for alleged slip and fall in bathtub

NEW ORLEANS – A Pensacola, Fla. woman is suing a local hotel for damages resulting from a bathtub slip and fall accident.

Jerona Herring filed a lawsuit against Highpointe Hotel Corporation, commonly known as, Hampton Inn and Suites - Convention Center and Travelers Property Casualty Company of America in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 13.

The plaintiff claims that she slipped and fell in the bathtub of her hotel room at the defendant's establishment resulting in her injuring her ribs and shattering her right wrist. Herring maintains that the conditions of the bathtub were hazardous and constituted a defect in the premises of the defendant's property.

The defendant is accused of failure to take note of hazardous conditions and take steps to remedy, failure to prevent a foreseeable action and failure to warn a hotel guest of the hazardous conditions.

An unspecified amount is sought for all compensatory damages found reasonable in the premises of the case.

Herring is represented by Gretna-based attorney F. Gerald Desalvo.

This case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.

Case no. 2012-07944.
